Live Sex Chat

Get the dirt on doin' the dirty with these college ladies

Published on August 18, 2005

THU 8/18
Some college kids are getting together this weekend to talk about sex. Shocking, no? But before you "whatever" this one away, note that the dialogue in the play Sex Talkmay actually be worth listening to. The producer is 24-year old Reginald Edmund, already a veteran on the Houston theater scene (his play A Love Story recently appeared at the Silver House Theatre), and the playwright is Gaelika Brown, Edmund's 22-year-old TSU classmate. The three-woman cast shares the stage only with three chairs; each rises in turn to tell her sex-based stories, with a little monologue here, a little dialogue there. They remain nameless and seemingly unconnected throughout, but their tales weave together into narrative -- exuberant, angry and sad. "Everyone watching the show should be able to relate to each one of them," Brown says of her characters.

Universal appeal, yes -- but Edmund notes an ulterior point of intrigue: "The reason why I love this script is because it talks about all the things that men never hear." Show opens at 8 p.m. Thursday, August 18, and runs Friday, August 19, and Sunday, August 21. The Silver House Theatre, 1103 Chartres.
